Desk Re-Do

I found this desk on Craigslist for $20 and it will be perfect for the spare bedroom with a little TLC. Since Scott's work schedule requires him to sleep during the day, I am always trying to not disturb him and have been looking for a desk to put into the bedroom so I can work in there when needed. It will also act as storage for all of our office supplies as they are spread all over the house.

After a little search I found this desk and knew it was the one! We picked it up a few towns over and brought it home. I've already done the first round of sanding and just need to pick out a paint color now and decide I want to change out the pulls.

City Gardening

I am on a mission to have a beautiful herb garden on my patio this year. I adore fresh herbs but rarely splurge  on them at the grocery store, with the exception of cilantro - I almost always have cilantro :)

The other day at the store, while Scott was shopping for a garden hose, I browsed the seed isle. I ended up sticking basil & chive packets in our buggy, known to the rest of the world as a shopping cart. This past summer I bought potting soil that has been sitting on the patio for 3 seasons and planned on using my empty egg carton to get started.

Yesterday was beautiful and I didn't have a lot going on so I set out to start my garden! The egg carton I had was Styrofoam (I know - It hurts my heart) so I poked a hole in the bottom o each cup with a pen to allow drainage. Then I filled them with my soil and again using my pen, created a spot to drop the seeds and covered with more soil.

I saw this thing on Pinterest where you can replant the root portion of green onions so I thought I would give that a try too! Making sure I knew what was what, I made little signs so I was sure to know what was growing.

A Late Valentine's Day

This year Scott and I had to work on Valentine's Day so we celebrated this weekend a little late. Honestly, it was a little more fun this way. We didn't have to rush home to get ready or make reservations weeks in advance.

On the real V-Day, Scott did send the most gorgeous flowers. Several weeks ago I had told him not to waste his money on the overpriced roses. I was afraid my fat mouth might have gotten me in trouble and I wasn't going to get flowers at all, but honestly, what girl doesn't love a nice bouquet? So after a day of delivering flowers to dozens of other people I arrived home to these beauties waiting for me.

So this weekend when Scott came to town I gave him his gift. I had spent weeks making these Date Cards for him/us. It is so easy to get into a routine and it is hard to break from that sometimes. Often when it comes down to it, we can be straight up lazy. When I saw a version of these I knew I had to do them for us!

Some of my favorite dates are

• Make S'mores by the fire pit.
• Take a long drive in the country. Find cows. :)
• Dessert only date.
• A night of star gazing.
• Try something new.
• Brunch Date.

I don't love my hand writing so that part was a struggle. But I think they turned out pretty well!

This Valentine's Day was quite a success in my book! Dinner, crafts and flowers. Now that is the way to this girl's heart.
